Description: The welcome reception provides an excellent opportunity to meet and network with other Summit attendees. Pizza and Founders beer will be provided.
Day 1: The Clif Bar Advocacy Day
Date: Friday, September 10, 2010

Description: Workshops and seminars focusing on all aspects of mountain bike advocacy, Nationally and regionally known presenters will lead discussions with an emphasis on promoting and developing urban trail systems called gateway trails.

  • 10:00-10:30 a.m Developing Urban Trail Systems, presented by Ryan Schutz

  • 10:45am – 11:30 a.m. Building Project Buy-In, presented by Hansi Johnson
  • 10:45am – 11:30 a.m Working With Local Government, presented by Steve Faber

  • 11:30 am- 12:15pm Tapping Project Resources from a Local University, presented by Dr. C. “Griff” Griffin
  • 11:30 am- 12:15pm Working with Your State Legislators, presented by Representative Roy Schmidt

  • Lunch Break: Please note, lunch is not provided, but will be availbale on site.

  • 1:00 – 3:00 p.m IMBA Trail School Part I, presented by Chris and Leslie Kehmeier

  • 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. Open Riding at the G.R. Bike Park. The beer garden will be open.

  • 7:00 p.m. – Late Urban Ride/Pub Crawl: This ride will leave from the G.R. Bike Park. Sorry, but no helmet, no headlight, no taillight, no ride. Sponsored by Commute Bike Shop

Day 2: The Founders Brewing Co.'s Festival Day
Date: Saturday, September 11, 2010
Time: 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM
Location: Grand Rapids Bike Park [map]
Description: Saturday morning will feature hands-on trail building demonstrations. Later in the day, the Summit will have a festival atmosphere, with food, demos, and organized rides on local trails.

  • 8:30 a.m. 2-Day Registration Opens: located at the G.R. Bike Park
  • 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 am IMBA Trail School Part II, presented by Chris and Leslie Kehmeier
  • 9:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m Construction of Technical Trail Features, presented by Aaron Rodgers
  • 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Mechanical Trailbuilding, presented by Dr. Jason Dew

  • 12:00 p.m. The Midway opens at noon. The beer garden opens at 2:00 p.m.

  • 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. Shuttles to Trifecta Trails: shuttles will pick up/drop off riders at the G.R. Bike Park and Cannonsburg State Game Area, Cannonsburg Ski Area, and Luton Park. There will be 3 shuttle runs, leaving every 2 hours. Sponsored Michigan Cycling Charters
  • 2:00 p.m. Jump Competition: located at the G.R. Bike Park. Sponsored by Velocity USA
  • 4:00 p.m. Pumptrack Fury: located at the G.R. Bike Park. Sponsored by Velocity USA
  • 6:00 p.m. Hot Lap Competition: located at the G.R. Bike Park.Sponsored by Slingshot Bikes
  • 7:00 – 10:30 p.m Cyclecross Double Header Race #1: located at Plaster Creek Park. Check out or participate in cyclecross racing under stadium lights at Plaster Creek Park. This race is brought to you by our friends at Kisscross. Kisscross charges a $20 registration fee, no licenses are required. Please note, the registration fee is not included in your Summit admission.

Day 3: The Epic Ride
Date: Sunday, September 12, 2010
Time: 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Location: Grand Rapids Bike Park [map]
Description: 40 miles of singletrack, dirt road, and a wee bit of pavement
  • 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Endurance racing legend Mark Hendershot will lead fast riders on a 40-mile epic ride over singletrack, dirt roads, bike paths and more. Someone far less famous, and not nearly as fast will lead a less-fast group. This ride is not for the faint of heart.
